Madhya Pradesh (usually abbreviated as MP) is located in the centre of India. It was the largest state in India before the state Chhattisgarh was carved out of it in 2000. It is a landlocked state surrounded by the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan.
Bhopal is the capital of Madhya Pradesh and many important government offices are located in the city. Indore is the largest city and commercial centre. Other cities in MP are Gwalior, Jabalpur, and Ujjain .
